32nd SEA Games: Competitions of Three Sports Completed

Three types sports – Ouk Chaktrang (Chess), Sailing, and Triathlon – have ended their competitions at the 32nd SEA Games being hosted by Cambodia from May 5 to 17.

In Ouk Chaktrang whose competitions began since April 29, Cambodia ranked third among seven participating countries by winning a total of six medals: 1 gold, 4 silver and 1 bronze. Thailand topped the list with 4 gold and 1 bronze medals, followed by Vietnam with 2 gold, 1 silver and 7 bronze medals.

Sailing, held from May 2 to 8 with nine events in Sihanoukville, Preah Sihanouk province with the participation of six countries, concluded with Thailand at the top of the medal list with 4 gold medals. Singapore and Malaysia sit second and third with 3 gold and 2 gold medals, respectively. Host Cambodia and the Philippines earned 1 silver and 2 bronze medals each.

The triathlon was completed on May 8 after three days of competitions with proud results for the host country even though Cambodia ranked second with 2 gold and 1 silver medals, behind the Philippines which grabbed 3 gold, 2 silver and 1 bronze medals.

As of May 9, at 9:00 am, Cambodia grabbed in total 100 medals: 37 gold, 31 silver and 32 bronze, remaining thus at the top of the Medal Table.

The 37 gold medals include 8 in Vovinam, 8 in Kun Bokator, 4 in Chinlone, 3 in Jiu-Jitsu, 2 in Kun Khmer, 2 in Soft Tennis, 2 in E-Sports, 1 in Ouk Chaktrang (Chess), 2 in Triathlon, 1 in Basketball, 1 in Cricket, 1 in Karate, 1 in Pencak Silat, and 1 Billiard.

Cambodia bagged 63 medals – nine gold, 13 silver and 41 bronze – in the 31st SEA Games in Vietnam in 2022.
