32nd SEA Games: Triathlon and Kun Bokator Bring Three More Gold Medals to Cambodia

Cambodia this morning grabbed three more gold medals – one in Triathlon and two in Kun Bokator – at the 32nd SEA Games, bringing the host country’s gold medal tally to 32.

Athlete Ms. Margot Morakot Garabedian won the gold medal in Triathlon (750-metre swimming, 20-kilometre cycling, 5-kilometre running) in Kep province.

This is the second gold medal earned by Ms. Margot Morakot Garabedian, while the first one was won on May 6 in Aquathlon.

The Kun Bokator gold medalists are Mr. Ay Sam Un and Ms. Sin Sivesien in Men's and Women's Single Phkak Form at the Chroy Changvar International Convention and Exhibition Centre in Phnom Penh.

Cambodia has now gained in total 75 medals – 33 gold, 21silver and 22 bronze medals.

Of the 32 gold medals, 6 in Vovinam, 6 in Kun Bokator, 4 in Chinlone, 3 in Jiu-Jitsu, 2 in Kun Khmer, 2 in Soft Tennis, 2 in E-Sports, 1 in Ouk Chaktrang (Chess), 2 in Triathlon, 1 in Basketball, 1 in Cricket, 1 in Karate, and 1 in Pencak Silat.

More than 20 types of sports are today’s competition list, including Triathlon, Cricket, Golf, Kun Bokator, Ouk Chaktrang (Chess), Petanque, Vovinam, Athletics, Swimming, Mountain Bike, Badminton, E-Sports, Karate, Sepak Takraw, Soft Tennis, Tennis, Pencak Silat, Artistic Gymnastics, Billard, Sailing, Volleyball, Boxing, Kun Khmer, and Football.

A 1,203-strong Cambodian delegation, including 896 athletes, have been taking part in the 32nd SEA Games that the Kingdom is hosting for the first time in 64 years under the motto “Sport: Living in Peace”.

Cambodia bagged 63 medals – nine gold, 13 silver and 41 bronze – in the 31st SEA Games in Vietnam in 2022.
