MR D.I.Y STEPS UP FOR NATURE IN CONJUNCTION WITH ‘WORLD ENVIRONMENT DAY’

Malaysians’ favourite home improvement retailer, MR D.I.Y. Group Berhad (MR D.I.Y. ) celebrated ‘World Environment Day’ in exciting ways by mobilising its MR D.I.Y. Cares volunteers to organise two environmental initiatives, the mangrove saplings and Tapir conservation programmes, to commemorate the event.

In a statement today, MR. D.I.Y. said that realizing the importance of mangroves as protectors of the coastal ecosystem, 31 dedicated MR. D.I.Y. Cares volunteers joined forces with residents of Changkat Keruing and volunteers from an environmental non-governmental organisation Persatuan Aktivis Sahabat Alam (KUASA) went on a mission to restore nature along the Mangrove Riverbank Park in Changkat Keruing, Perak.

They collectively planted 1,000 mangrove saplings, thus rejuvenating the mangrove forest, read the statement.

The MR. D.I.Y. Cares were also involved in another World Environment Day initiative , which is at the Sungai Dusun Wildlife Conservation Centre for Tapir in Kuala Kubu Bharu, Selangor.

At the conservation centre, the volunteers painted a mesmerising mural of the Tapir , as well as planted some flower plants, transforming it into an attractive place.

According to MR. D.I.Y., these activities are part of the company’s continuous efforts towards preserving Malaysia’s tourist spots and ensuring the sustainability of the natural environment.

“We firmly believe that homegrown corporations or organisations should play an active role in educating Malaysians on the importance of sustainable practices so that we can together deliver value and positively impact the rakyat and our country in meaningful ways.

“At the same time, to encourage others to follow,” it said.
