Cambodia Wants a Deeper Cooperation with South Korea

Cambodia is intended to elevate the cooperation with the Republic of Korea (RoK) to comprehensive strategic partnership in the near future.

The intention was raised by Prime Minister Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet during his talks yesterday with H.E. Yoon Suk Yeol, President of RoK, on the sidelines of the 43rd ASEAN Summit and Related Summits in Jakarta, Indonesia.

In the meeting, the two leaders agreed to further strengthen and expand the cooperation between both countries in some potential areas such as investment, trade, agriculture, public health, national defence, and people-to-people connectivity.

At the same time, Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet reiterated his gratitude to the Korean government for its attention to Cambodian workers staying and working in Korea, while H.E. Yoon Suk Yeol will check the possibility to increase quotas for Cambodian workers and continue to encourage Korean companies to invest in Cambodia, especially in the field of digital technology.

Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet took this opportunity to express his sincere condolences to H.E. Yoon Suk Yeol over the loss of his beloved father, and thanked the Korean president for his congratulations on his appointment as Prime Minister of Cambodia, as well as conveyed greetings from Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, President of the Supreme Privy Council of His Majesty the King to the president and to the people of Korea, the close friend of Cambodia.

He also reaffirmed Cambodia’s commitment to continue the policy and cooperation with RoK, despite the change of leadership in the Royal Government of Cambodia.
