Cambodian NA President Sends Condolence Message on Passing of Viet Nam Party General Secretary

President of the National Assembly of Cambodia, Samdech Moha Rathsapheathika Thipadei Khuon Sudary, has extended her condolences over the passing of H.E. Nguyen Phu Trong, General Secretary of the Communist Party of Viet Nam (CPV).

‘It is with profound sadness and a heavy heart that I extend my deepest condolences on the passing of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong. His departure is a tremendous loss to not only Viet Nam but also to all who had the honour of knowing him and witnessing his invaluable contributions to humankind,’ she wrote in her message to Honourable Mr. Tran Thanh Man, Chairman of the National Assembly of the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam on July 19.

Secretary General Nguyen Phu Trong was a remarkable leader whose vision and dedication have profoundly impacted Viet Nam’s socio-economic development and institutional modernisation, she said, adding that he has played a crucial role in enhancing trust-based, result-oriented, and people-centered relations between our two nations.

‘His unwav
ering dedication to fostering strong bilateral ties has been instrumental in bringing our two nations closer together, and for that, we are immensely grateful. His leadership, wisdom, and compassion will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of working with him,’ Samdech Khuon Sudary underlined.

‘We share in your grief during this difficult time and extend our heartfelt sympathies to his family, colleagues, and the people of Viet Nam,’ she said. ‘May his soul rest in peace, and may his memory be a source of inspiration to all who knew him.’

According to Vietnam News Agency (VNA), H.E. Nguyen Phu Trong passed away on July 19 afternoon at the age of 80 due to old age and severe illness.
