India-funded School Building in Phnom Penh Officially Inaugurated


A three-classroom school building in Sngoun Pich Primary School, located in Sngoun Pich village, Sangkat Kantok, Khan Kambol, Phnom Penh was officially inaugurated on July 31.

The inauguration ceremony was presided over by H.E. Dr. Ing Kantha Phavi, Minister of Women’s Affairs and H.E. Dr. Devyani Khobragade, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of India to Cambodia, with the participation of distinguished guests, local authorities, parents, and students with approximately 900 people.

According to the Ministry of Women’s Affairs, the construction of this school building began in March 2024 and fully completed in July 2024 at the cost of US$50,000, fully funded by the Government of the Republic of India through the Quick Impact Project (QIP), under the framework of the Mekong-Ganga Cooperation.

Addressing the function, H.E. Dr. Ing Kantha Phavi extended her sincere thanks and appreciation to H.E. Ambassador as well as the Government of the Republic of India for continued support to t
he development of Cambodia. The building of this new three-classroom stands as another achievement and testament to what can be achieved through good and strong collaboration and dedication between the Royal Government of Cambodia and the Government of the Republic of India under the Mekong-Ganga Cooperation.

H.E. Minister asserted that this building is now the fourth achievement funded by the Government of the Republic of India through the Ministry of Women’s Affairs. This new achievement truly responds to the need for early childhood education, lays an important foundation for the physical, intellectual, and emotional development of pupils and enables them to become potential human capitals who can fully participate in the implementation of Education Policies and Human Capital Development of the Royal Government of Cambodia.

H.E. Dr. Ing Kantha Phavi expressed her deep appreciation to the Government of the Republic of India through H.E. Dr. Devyani Khobragade and colleagues for providing good cooperation
and continued support to Cambodia. She strongly believed that friendship and cooperation between the two nations will continue to flourish in the future.
