MISTI Minister Receives Cambodian Scholarship Awardees for Nuclear Engineering Study in Russia


Minister of Industry, Science, Technology and Innovation H.E. Hem Vanndy received here at the ministry on Aug. 6 Cambodian students who won scholarships to pursue nuclear engineering at various Russian universities.

The students requested internship opportunities at the Ministry of Industry, Science, Technology and Innovation (MISTI) upon completion of their studies.

Minister Vanndy applauded the students for winning the scholarships. He highlighted Russia’s expertise in nuclear technology, noting that many senior Cambodian leaders are Russian university alumni. He emphasised the importance of nuclear technology for civil purposes in Cambodia, including food irradiation, heavy industries and health sector.

H.E. Minister advised the students to study diligently, develop both hard and soft skills, engage with research centres, and build relationships, while representing Cambodia with discipline and positive attitude.

Furthermore, he urged the students to maintain their integrity, build their credential
s, and never forget their home country, Cambodia, regardless of where they choose to be in the future.

H.E. Hem Vanndy also shared MISTI’s mandates and welcomed the students’ interest in internships at the ministry.

The Russian government recently announced an increase in scholarships for Cambodian students and civil servants, offering 40 scholarships for 2024, up from 25 in 2023.
