Senate President Supports the Royal Government’s Commitment for CLV-DTA

As the statesman who had initiated the Cambodia-Laos-Vietnam Development Triangle Area (CLV-DTA), Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, President of the Senate voiced his strong support for the Royal Government’s commitment on this project.

In his voice message this afternoon, Samdech Techo Hun Sen said Cambodia cannot stop the development under the CLV-DTA because millions of U.S. dollars, funded by Japan, the World Bank, the Asian Development Bank, and other partners, had been invested for infrastructure, education, and other development projects in this area.

The former Cambodian Prime Minister reaffirmed that the Kingdom had lost a lot of land in the past as part of the history, but there would be no more loss.

Samdech Techo Hun Sen reminded his compatriots of not falling into any call for illegal action against the Royal Government, and reacted to a call to build fences along the border, saying that this is not as simple and as easy as they said.

Over the world, there are not many nations
that construct border fences, except South Korea and North Korea, the U.S. and Mexico …, while others do not do so because all nations need cooperation between them, he added.

Besides, ‘how can Cambodia build border fences along some rivers, including Mekong, Sesan, Sre Pok, Sekong?’ he asked.

Samdech Techo Hun Sen said the border fences can be easily destroyed, but the nation’s strong fencee are the people, that is why the Royal Government is putting all efforts to build more infrastructure along the border, develop the area, and encourage the people to live there.
