Chinese Companies from Guangdong Interested in Investing in Cambodia

Chinese companies from Shantou city of China’s Guangdong province are interested in investing in Cambodia, visiting Mr. Wen Zhanbin, Secretary of the Shantou Municipal Committee of the Communist Party of China, told Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet in a courtesy meeting here at the Peace Palace this morning.

Mr. Wen Zhanbin said the purpose of the visit of his delegation to Cambodia is to promote the cooperation in trade, investment, cultural exchange, health, agriculture and tourism between Shantou city and Cambodia, as well as to examine the possibility of reopening direct flights from Shantou to Cambodia in the near future.

During the visit, the delegation, composed of representatives from various companies, has signed cooperation deals with the Phnom Penh municipal administration and with a number of private companies in Cambodia.

Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet highly appreciated the remarkable outcomes of the Shantou delegation’s visit and welcomed the delegation’s interest
in investing in various potential sectors in the Kingdom.

The visit will further contribute to the strengthening and expansion of cooperation between the two countries, especially the connection between their private sector, he underlined.

The Premier also encouraged investors from Shantou city to work with relevant ministries and institutions and the private sector in Cambodia to seek opportunities to expand investment in other potential sectors, especially agriculture and industry.
