New JICA Volunteers Land in Cambodia

Eight new volunteers safely arrived in Cambodia this morning as part of the Japan Overseas Cooperation Volunteers (JOCV) programme, according to Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) Cambodia Office’s news release.

For the next two years, it pointed out, they will be actively involving with local people, speaking Khmer language and living with locals to experience the culture and traditions and with their specialties, positively contribute to the development of Cambodia in different fields ranging from pre-school to high school education, nursing and library science.

They will soon start their Khmer language training before their official dispatched to several provinces including Kampong Speu, Preah Sihanouk, Kampong Chhnang, Battambang and Siem Reap, the source added.

The JICA’s JOCV programme in Cambodia began in 1965, and some 800 volunteers have been so far dispatched.
