Pekan UMNO Youth And Puteri Wings Lodge Police Report Against Muhyiddin

PEKAN, The UMNO Youth and Puteri wings of the Pekan Division filed a police report today against Perikatan Nasional chairman Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin for allegedly touching upon sensitive issues related to race, religion, and royalty (3R) during the Nenggiri by-election campaign.

The Division’s UMNO Youth head, Mohd Fakhrul Akhmal Mohamed, claimed that during his campaign speeches, Muhyiddin purportedly made statements regarding the authority of the Sultan of Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah when he was the 16th Yang di-Pertuan Agong.

He emphasised that as a former prime minister with extensive political experience, Muhyiddin ought to have avoided making such statements and should instead set a good example for younger leaders.

“This issue should not have arisen, and he (Muhyiddin) ought to have been more careful with his statements,” he told Bernama at the Paloh Hinai police station today.

Mohd Fakhrul added that the police report was filed to defend the Pahang Sultanate and
to demand strict action against Muhyiddin, to prevent similar issues in the future, especially in the upcoming Mahkota state assembly by-election.

The police report was filed by UMNO Youth’s Putera Bureau chairman Muhamed Haekal Mohamed Nasrudin and UMNO Puteri secretary Nur Hidayah Abd Rahim.

Meanwhile, in a Facebook post, UMNO vice president Datuk Seri Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail expressed his disappointment and frustration with Muhyiddin’s remarks, urging authorities to take action against the Pagoh member of parliament.

“As a former prime minister, Muhyiddin should not involve the royal institution in his narrow political campaign merely to gain votes and mislead the public about what happened in the last general election,” said Wan Rosdy, who is also Pahang Menteri Besar.
