H.E. SOK Chenda Sophea, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, met here at the ministry on Aug. 20 with Mr. Joseph Scheuer, UN Resident Coordinator in Cambodia, to discuss the preparations of the Summit of the Future.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, in the meeting, H.E. Deputy Prime Minister attached great importance to the Summit of the Future which will be held on Sept. 22-23, 2024 in New York, and informed of Cambodia’s readiness to participate in the Summit in which he will be representing Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei HUN Manet, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia.

H.E. SOK Chenda Sophea and UN representative discussed the process and the outcome documents of the Summit, and exchanged views on issues of common interest such as the continued cooperation with the UN, Cambodia’s roles and commitments in the international community to contribute to multilateral efforts in accelerating the implementation of the SDGs
2030.

Mr. Joseph Scheuer expressed sincere thanks to H.E. Deputy Prime Minister and the Royal Government of Cambodia for the close cooperation between the UN and the Royal Government of Cambodia.

The UN side warmly welcomed all requests of the Royal Government of Cambodia and wished H.E. Deputy Prime Minister and the Cambodian delegation a successful mission in the upcoming Summit of the Future and General Debate of the 79th Session of the UN General Assembly.
