Bursa Malaysia Edges Higher As Bargain Hunters Re-enter Market

KUALA LUMPUR, Bursa Malaysia was marginally higher at mid-morning, recovering some ground and paring early losses as bargain hunters entered the market.

At 11.00 am, the FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) added 0.96 of-a-point to 1,643.73, up from yesterday’s close of 1,642.77.

The index had opened 1.05 points lower at 1,641.72.

On the broader market, gainers and decliners were evenly matched at 396 each, while 445 counters remained unchanged, 1,243 were untraded and seven were suspended.

Turnover stood at 1.38 billion units, valued at RM923.37 million.

Among the heavyweights, CIMB Group rose 12.0 sen to RM7.97, Maybank fell 2.0 sen to RM10.58, Public Bank decreased 7.0 sen to RM4.60 and Tenaga Nasional dropped 16.0 sen to RM13.84. IHH Healthcare remained unchanged at RM6.32.

Among the active stocks, MY E.G. Services and Tanco Holdings both gained 3.5 sen, reaching 94 sen and RM1.01 respectively.

Wentel Engineering climbed 1.0 sen to 34.5 sen, Cape EMS slipped 0.5 sen to 39.5 sen, while Oversea Enter
prise stayed flat at 5.5 sen.

On the index board, the FBM Emas Index rose 34.40 points to 12,464.17, the FBMT 100 Index increased 35.04 points to 12,123.65, the FBM Emas Shariah Index gained 42.44 points to 12,401.62, the FBM 70 Index advanced 155.70 points to 18,068.34, and the FBM ACE Index ticked up 8.32 points to 5,337.91.

Sector-wise, the Financial Services Index climbed 43.92 points to 19,241.07, the Industrial Products and Services Index edged up 0.90 of-a-point to 182.50, and the Plantation Index increased 10.98 points to 7,157.13.

Meanwhile, the Energy Index decreased 1.41 points to 933.14.
