Football federation names new chief for committee tasked with coaching hiring

The Korea Football Association (KFA) announced Tuesday its Vice President Choi Young-il will serve as new head of a committee in charge of hiring coaches for national teams.

The KFA said Choi will lead the National Teams Committee, filling the vacancy left by the departure of his predecessor, Chung Hae-sung, in June.

Chung abruptly resigned in late June while the KFA was looking to hire the new head coach for the senior men’s national team. Instead of naming Chung’s replacement, technical director Lee Lim-saeng assumed Chung’s responsibilities, as the KFA settled on Hong Myung-bo as the new men’s boss in early July.
