Dissemination Workshop to Foster Cambodia-Thai Trade Facilitation

Cambodia and Thailand have organised a dissemination workshop to promote bilateral trade facilitation, including related customs laws and regulations.

Addressing the workshop on Aug. 26, H.E. Cherdkiat Atthakor, Ambassador of Thailand to Cambodia, highlighted that it was part of the Thai Embassy’s initiative to foster Thai businesses in Cambodia.

It serves as a forum to share knowledge and best practices, especially in customs and border operations, to enhance trade between Thailand and Cambodia, he added.

Director General of Customs and Excise of Cambodia H.E. Kun Nhim, who co-chaired the workshop, echoed the insights of the Thai ambassador on the event.

Building awareness of the private sector on customs laws and regulations related to trade is crucial for boosting the business environment and ensuring compliance with customs procedures in Cambodia, he underlined.

H.E. Kun Nhim recalled that on Feb. 7, Cambodia and Thailand signed a memorandum of understanding on goods transit to further facilitate tr
ade between the two countries.

He was positive that a better understanding of the customs laws and regulations will contribute to a fruitful customs-private sector partnership mechanism that promotes the business environment and bilateral trade for mutual benefits between Cambodia and Thailand.
