Taeil, who recently departed from the K-pop boy group NCT following allegations of sexual misconduct, was questioned by police on Wednesday for the first time since he was accused in the case, according to his agency.

“This company and Taeil first became aware of the accusation in the middle of this month,” SM Entertainment said Thursday, confirming Taeil was probed by the police the previous day.

SM, however, did not disclose further details regarding the nature of the allegations.

The agency announced on Wednesday that it has recently learned of Taeil’s involvement “in a criminal case related to a sexual offense” and decided to expel him from the group due to the gravity of the case.

Taeil debuted as a member of NCT U, a NCT sub-unit, in 2016 and had since participated in activities with both NCT and another sub-unit, NCT 127.
