Spokesperson: Government-Sponsored Tour to Border Provinces, an Effective Anti-Fake News Approach

The spokesperson at the Ministry of Information sees the government-sponsored tour for the public to Cambodia’s four border provinces in the northeast as a solid testimony of the government’s development there against fake news.

H.E. Tep Asnarith, who is also an Undersecretary of State at the Ministry of Information, shared the insight with AKP on Aug. 30.

The Ministry of Information was tasked by Prime Minister Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet to disseminate the schedule of the tour and facilitate it for the public, especially youth.

The Royal Government will provide free transport and food for public touring to the provinces of Kratie, Mondulkiri, Rattanakiri, and Stung Treng to be organised every weekend from September until the end of 2024.

H.E. Tep Asnarith said that it will serve as an exposure tour for the public as well as youth to better understand the geographical location of the border provinces and the development status and livelihoods of the people residing in those areas.

Those
who will join the tour, he added, will witness first-hand the efforts of the government in securing gradual development and maintaining the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Cambodia with neighbouring countries on the basis of mutual respect.

It is expected that the joiners of the tour will eventually share what they have seen with others so that they are not polluted by the fabricated news.

The information spokesperson also saw the initiative as an opportunity to promote the richness of natural tourist attractions in the border provinces for both the short and long run.
