Malaysian Envoys Have Significant Responsibility In Protecting National Interests – PM

KUALA LUMPUR, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim today reminds Heads of Malaysian Diplomatic Missions of their significant responsibility in defending and protecting Malaysia’s national interests.

Anwar also emphasised the need for all Heads of Malaysian Diplomatic Missions to take a more proactive role that could help boost the economy, as the MADANI government continues to focus on strengthening Malaysia’s economic growth.

“I also stressed the need for all Heads of Malaysian Diplomatic Missions to take a more proactive role in following up, exploring, and attracting high-quality foreign investments, as well as enhancing bilateral trade to boost the country’s economy,” he said.

He said this in a Facebook post today, after receiving a courtesy call from six new Heads of Diplomatic Missions of Malaysia, who will soon begin their duties in their respective countries.

The Prime Minister also congratulated all the newly appointed Malaysian envoys.

“May they be able to shoulder their new responsibilitie
s and discharge the trust given to them with total commitment and determination,” he said.

On Aug 27, His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia presented the instruments of appointment to the newly appointed envoys in a ceremony held at Istana Negara.

The newly appointed envoys are the Malaysian High Commissioner to Brunei Darussalam Datuk Mohd Aini Atan, Malaysian Ambassador to Sweden Sarimah Akbar, Malaysian Ambassador to Qatar Faizal @ Mohd Faizal Razali, and Malaysian Ambassador to the United Arab Emirates Tengku Datuk Sirajuzzaman Tengku Mohamed Ariffin.

Others were Malaysian Ambassador to Peru Ahmad Irham Ikmal Hisham and Malaysian High Commissioner to Bangladesh Mohd Shuhada Othman.
