Cambodia Wins Its 20th Gold Medal in Vovinam

Cambodia this morning earned another gold medal for Vovinam in Mixed Basic Self Defence Technique Team at the 32nd SEA Games, the 20th gold medal for the Kingdom.

Athletes Mr. Mean Chinpiseth, Mr. San Socheat, Mr. Met Sopheaktra, Ms. Mean Palchharasmey, Ms. Pov Sokha, and Ms. Khorn Chansopheakneath grabbed the gold medal.

Besides, Cambodia this morning also won a silver medal in Duathlon by Mr. Sokha Mickael Chaumond and a bronze medal in Vovinam by Ms. Sok Sophy.

Cambodian athletes have so far achieved good performances, claiming in total 50 medals as of May 7 morning, including 20 gold, 13 silver and 17 bronze.

There are 25 sports competitions in today’s programme including Aquatics, Basketball, Billiards, Boxing, Ouk Chaktrang, Cricket, Cycling, E-Sports, Football, Hockey, Karate, Jiu-Jitsu, Kun Bokator, Kun Khmer, Vovinam, Obstacle Race, Penchak Silat, Petanque, Sailing, Sepak Takraw, Soft Tennis, Tennis, Duathlon, Volleyball, and Teqball.

In the previous SEA Games in Vietnam, Cambodia won 63 medals – nine gold, 13 silver and 41 bronze.

Over 12,000 athletes from 11 participating countries are set to compete in 37 sports with 581 events – 304 for men, 229 for women and 48 mixed – at the SEA Games 2023 under the motto of “Sport: Live in Peace” from May 5 to 17.
