KOICA, CAMKAA and Partners Conduct Social Activities in Prey Veng Province

The Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA), together with the Cambodia-Korea Alumni Association (CAMKAA), Hesed, Hyundai Camko Motors, Shinhan Bank, VeryWords, and Woori Bank organised the Social Activity Donation Ceremony in Tako Secondary School, of Prey Veng province on May 19.

The event took place under the presidency of Mr. Rho Hyunjun, Country Director of KOICA Cambodia Office, H.E. Ms. Horn Sotheary, Deputy Governor of Prey Veng province, H.E. Im Sour, President of CAMKAA and Deputy Secretary General of CDC/CRDB, Mr. Pav Sothy, Director of Prey Veng Provincial Department of Education, Youth and Sport, and Mr. Samrith Piseth, Acting Head of Tako Secondary School.

Many related entities and distinguished guests including the Representatives from Hesed, Hyundai Camko Motors, Shinhan Bank, VeryWords, and Woori Bank, teachers, and students with a total of around 350 people participated in the donation ceremony.

According to a KOICA’s press release issued this evening, the donated items include 150 bicycles, 300 helmets, 150 school uniforms, 1,000 writing books, 200 sets of ballpoint pens, 300 bags of palm sugar, and medicines to be distributed to students.

H.E. Ms. Horn Sotheary said she appreciates KOICA and all participants carrying out the social activity in Prey Veng province. She looked forward to working with KOICA for the 2nd and 3rd time on this kind of “Social Activity Donation Ceremony” in the future.

Mr. Rho Hyunjun, Country Director of KOICA Cambodia Office, spoke highly of the event, saying that this initiative was based on the strong partnership and cooperation amongst KOICA, CAMKAA, Hesed, Hyundai Camko Motors, Shinhan Bank, VeryWords, and Woori Bank.

He also added that this event was made only possible due to generous contributions by Korean companies who participated in the event while the KOICA Cambodia Office has only provided a platform to bring in the collective efforts of everyone. He concluded that KOICA Cambodia Office, together with good friends like CAMKAA, Hesed, Hyundai, Shinhan Bank, VeryWords, and Woori Bank, will continuously support the Royal Government of Cambodia and the Cambodian people.

Also after the donation ceremony, the KOICA Global doctor, with the help of the Soksabay team which is composed of KOICA volunteers and CAMKAA members, has provided consultation services and also medical treatment to around 300 patients in the Tako Secondary School.

In addition, the Soksabay team with school teachers at Prey Veng Province provided some health education on hygiene and sanitation for students to maintain good hygiene habits. These habits can help prevent the spread of disease and keep individuals healthy. The team also carried out physical activities with the students to enhance their physical strength.

Hesed is an agri-business enterprise, whose main products are Cambodia-made palm sugar and dried fruits. Hyundai Camko Motors is a mobility enterprise. Shinhan Bank and Woori Bank are financial institutions. VeryWords is an e-mobility enterprise, whose main products are e-bikes and solar SHS.
