Raja Permaisuri of Perak, Tuanku Zara Salim today graced the handing over ceremony of medical equipment to the Women, Children, and Cardiology Complex of Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital (HRPB) here.

The medical equipment, comprising a flexible video laryngoscope without a working channel, a Fabian Therapy Evolution device and a pulse oximeter with reporting software, were purchased from donations raised during a four-day International Ipoh Fashion Week (IIFW) held last year.

Tuanku Zara arrived at the complex at 2.30 pm and was greeted on arrival by Perak Menteri Besar’s wife Datin Seri Aezer Zubin, State Health Director Dr Sirajuddin Hashim and HRPB director Dr Megat Iskandar Megat Abdul Halim.

She then visited the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU), Pediatric High Dependency Unit (PHDU), Pediatric Surgical Ward and the Pediatric Medical Ward at the complex.

Meanwhile, Dr Sirajuddin, in a statement, said PICU and PHDU are referral centres for terminally ill and serious pediatric cases in the state, with the wards also accepting cases from other states, including Penang and Kedah.

There are 12 beds at PICU and 15 beds at PHDU.

Donations amounting to RM104,883.36 was raised during the 2020 IIFWA, which was held with the support of the state government, Ipoh City Council, Tourism Perak, Tourism Malaysia and sponsors.
