UKM RECEIVES CUEPACS’ 2023 CARING EMPLOYER AWARD

Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) received the CUEPACS Caring Employer Award in conjunction with 2023 Workers Day today.

UKM in a statement today said the award was presented by Public Service Department director-general Datuk Dr Zulkapli Mohamed to UKM vice-chancellor Prof Datuk Dr Mohd Ekhwan Toriman at a Workers’ Day celebration in Putrajaya today.

Mohd Ekhwan said the recognition and appreciation award will motivate UKM employees to continue to carry out their duties with full commitment and dedication.

"The university always strives to serve and meet the needs of all employees so that there is a positive work culture that will improve employee performance," he said in the statement.

According to Mohd Ekhwan, his department has taken a number of initiatives to ensure the welfare of employees continues to be maintained in terms of career advancement, service recognition, employee safety and health as well as aid contributions.

For example, Mohd Ekhwan said UKM had obtained approval from the Royal Malaysia Police to upgrade the university's security personnel to UKM Auxiliary Police and the move has created 106 new posts.

"In addition, UKM also introduced a special internal promotion plan so that every staff has a higher chance to be promoted," he said.

He said concerned over the welfare of its staff, UKM works closely with staff unions and associations such as UKM Staff Union, UKM Academic Staff Association, Association of Administrative and Professional Officers, Administrative and Operations Assistants and UKM Retirees Association.

He said UKM also provides free health check-ups through its Medical Services and Healthy Lifestyle Practices programme and staff with disabilities are never left behind.

He said UKM has always been supporting the government in taking care of its employees who are in need including offering a complete meal at below RM5 through the Menu Rahmah initiative to all its employees.
