BSH OF RM300 PER MONTH EXTENDED TO NON-PENSIONABLE VETERANS FROM AGE 60

The Cost of Living Aid (BSH) of RM300 per month will be extended to non-pensionable veterans from the age of 60 effective September.

Chief Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Mohd Zuki Ali said the proposal to extend the aid to non-pensionable veterans from the age of 60 was agreed at the Cabinet Committee on Public Service Reform meeting chaired by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim today.

“This BSH extension will benefit a total of 41,970 non-pensionable veterans with an additional financial implication of RM151.1 million per year,” he said in a statement today.

He said the government had previously announced special appreciation aid of RM300 for civil servants and RM200 for government pensioners which will be paid this Thursday (Aug 10).

This year, he said civil servants had also enjoyed a special additional annual salary increment of RM100, Aidilfitri Special Financial Assistance of RM700 as well as the 2023 Special Financial Assistance of RM700.

Mohd Zuki said the meeting today discussed matters involving improvement and welfare of civil servants, especially the status of the review of the remuneration scheme.

He said the study would cover the overall aspects of public service namely remuneration, organisational development and talent management to ensure the welfare and well-being of civil servants.

“For starters, this study will emphasise the sustainability of civil servants’ remuneration to ensure that wages, salaries and allowances are commensurate with responsibilities and in line with the increase in the cost of living,” he said.

The last time the Public Service Remuneration Scheme was reviewed was in 2001 and the last review of the salary scheme was conducted in 2013, he added.
