Beijing: Samdech Maha Rathsapheathika Thipadei Khuon Sudary, President of the National Assembly of the Kingdom of Cambodia, met with H.E. Zhao Leji, Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress (NPC) of China, on the sidelines of the Global Leaders’ Meeting on Women in Beijing on Oct. 14.
According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, Samdech Khuon Sudary extended her congratulations on the successful convening of the Global Leaders’ Meeting on Women and praised China’s achievements in advancing gender equality and women’s empowerment. She appreciated China’s leadership in promoting women’s roles in governance and development, stating that China’s progress serves as global inspiration.
Both parties reiterated their commitment to enhancing Cambodia-China relations across all sectors, focusing on implementing agreements reached during Chinese President Xi Jinping’s state visit to Cambodia in April 2025. They expressed a shared determination to build an All-weather Community with a Shared Future, aligned with the vision set by their nations’ leaders.
Samdech Khuon Sudary also commended China’s initiatives in promoting multilateralism through the Global Security Initiative (GSI), Global Development Initiative (GDI), Global Governance Initiative (GGI), and the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), which benefit developing countries. She highlighted the enduring nature of the ‘ironclad friendship’ between Cambodia and China, reaffirming Cambodia’s adherence to the One-China Policy and appreciation for China’s support in socio-economic development.
In response, H.E. Zhao Leji emphasized the solid and enduring Cambodia-China friendship, outlining five key directions for deepening bilateral cooperation. These include enhancing mutual trust, establishing a strategic dialogue mechanism, promoting people-to-people exchanges, strengthening legal cooperation, and expanding multilateral governance cooperation.
Chairman Zhao also expressed China’s readiness to support projects like the ‘Industrial and Technological Corridor’ and the ‘Fish and Rice Corridor’, promote Cambodian agricultural imports, and assist in infrastructure development, including the Funan Techo Canal and solar energy projects.
Both leaders reaffirmed their commitment to advancing the Cambodia-China friendship, ensuring it remains a model of mutual trust and shared prosperity for future generations.
