Kuala lumpur: Cambodian leader has voiced support for the expansion of membership of the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP). Speaking at the 5th RCEP Leaders’ Summit in Kuala Lumpur, Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet, Prime Minister of Cambodia, said RCEP stands as a symbol of Cambodia’s unwavering commitment to rules-based trade and as an example of open regionalism, anchored around ASEAN Centrality.
According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, Samdech Thipadei expressed strong support for the expedited accession of new members in accordance with the agreed Procedures for Accession, emphasising that expanding RCEP membership would enhance credibility and inclusivity as a key driver of sustainable growth and regional stability.
RCEP is a partnership of 15 countries to strengthen economic linkages, aiming for a modern, mutually beneficial economic agreement from 10 ASEAN Member States (Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Indonesia, Lao PDR, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Viet Nam) and six ASEAN FTA partners (Australia, People’s Republic of China, Japan, Republic of Korea, and New Zealand).
