Phnom penh: The Cambodia-Thailand Joint Coordinating Task Force (JCTF) has pinpointed a pilot border area for Humanitarian Demining in a priority minefield region. This announcement was made by H.E. Lt. Gen. Maly Socheata, spokesperson for the Cambodian Ministry of National Defence, following a meeting conducted via video teleconference (VTC) earlier today.
According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, the designated pilot border area is situated in O'Beichoan commune, O'Chrov district in Cambodia's Banteay Meanchey province, directly across from Nonmak Moon commune, Khok Song district in Thailand's Sa Kaeo province. This demining effort will adhere to the Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) established on October 23, 2025, by the Cambodia-Thailand JCTF.
The JCTF has directed the Cambodian Mine Action Centre (CMAC) and Thailand Mine Action Centre (TMAC) to convene on November 7, 2025, at the identified site to discuss the technical aspects of the demining operation. This initiative is grounded in the principles of respecting sovereignty and territorial integrity, emphasizing mutual respect between the neighboring nations.
