The Unity Government's initiative to empower digital technology in the agricultural sector through the eLadang pilot programme, or known as Digital Agriculture Technology (Digital AgTech), has attracted the attention of the European Union (EU)-ASEAN Business Council.
Communications and Digital Minister Fahmi Fadzil mentioned this in a Facebook post after receiving a courtesy call from a council delegation, led by its executive director Chris Humphrey, here today.
The Digital AgTech is an initiative that empowers farmers and agribusinesses nationwide with cutting-edge technology of real-time insights on productivity and predictive analytics which would address the issue of national food security.
It is equipped with an array of features from precision farming to crop health monitoring, weather forecasting, market insights, resource management, and farm performance analytics, all at the fingertips.
Also discussed were policies to boost the digital economy, Malaysia's digital transformation and the latest developments in 5G infrastructure, Fahmi said.
“At the end of the discussion, we also discussed the role of the government and private companies in combating cyber threats," he said in the post.
He was also confident that the meeting could further strengthen bilateral relations between the Communications and Digital Ministry and the EU-ASEAN Business Council, especially in the digital sector.
