Happy Mother’s Day greetings echoed at Dewan Merdeka, World Trade Centre Kuala Lumpur (WTCKL), when women leaders, while delivering speeches at the Unity Government National Women’s Convention, took the opportunity to convey their Mother’s Day greetings.

With simple yet meaningful wishes of ‘Happy Mother’s Day’, which were included in the speeches of the Barisan Nasional (BN) Wanita chief who is also the Wanita UMNO chief Datuk Seri Dr Noraini Ahmad; DAP Wanita chief Chong Eng; Wanita MCA chief Wong You Fong and Wanita MIC chief Datuk M. Mohana, it definitely brings back sweet memories.

To make it even sweeter, the Unity Government National Convention, which is held for the first time with the involvement of all 19 parties, is held simultaneously with the Mother’s Day celebration, today.

Fittingly, more than 3,000 roses were distributed to the delegates.

Meanwhile, the Progressive Democratic Party (PDP) deputy women chief Dr Florence Christy invited the delegates to stand up and exchange Happy Mother’s Day greetings.

“Happy Mother’s Day to all of us (participants), and let’s shake hands. Now we see the women in Unity Government,” she said.

If that is not enough, the Unity Government Secretariat chief, Datuk Seri Dr Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki, when chairing the Bicara Rakyat forum, asked the delegates to give a standing ovation to women who are mothers.

The Bicara Rakyat is one of the contents of the Unity Government National Convention, which is divided into three sessions – empowering the people’s economy, building the nation and Malaysia MADANI.
