The International Telecommunication Union (ITU) is committed to supporting Cambodia's Ministry of Information's work on strengthening the quality of media in Cambodia. Ms. Atsuko Okuda, ITU Regional Director for Asia and the Pacific, highlighted the commitment during a meeting with H.E. Neth Pheaktra, Minister of Information in Phnom Penh, on July 9. Ms. Atsuko Okuda discussed with H.E. Neth Pheaktra her intention to seek understanding on potential cooperation on Cambodia's transition from analogue to digital systems. The two also touched on a joint effort to promote quality and professional information and broadcasting to address fake news. H.E. Neth Pheaktra appreciated and welcomed the intention of the ITU delegate and updated her on the ministry's priorities and work progress, including promoting ethical and professional media in Cambodia.
