In a plenary session on July 5, the Council of Ministers reviewed and endorsed the National Action Plan for Disaster Risk Reduction (NAP-DRR) with more participatory preparedness, well mainstreamed with new technology. The session, chaired by Prime Minister Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet, adopted the five-year action plan to better mitigate disaster risk and vulnerability by increasing preparedness for response, rehabilitation, and resilience. The NAP-DRR promotes and guides meaningful engagement among ministries and government institutions, development partners, the private sector, as well as communities and families. It fosters disaster risk reduction and disaster management knowledge and planning among key players and ensures access to disaster management information among grassroots communities, especially those in disaster-prone areas, with the use of new technologies. It was expected that the action plan would contribute to an effective and timely response to disasters caused by hazards suc h as floods, gusts, droughts, fires, building collapses, and other events caused by climate change.
