Myanmar Eases COVID-19 Restrictions To Allow Public Gatherings Of Up To 400 People

Myanmar’s Ministry of Health, yesterday, issued an order to increase the maximum size of public gatherings from 200 to 400 people.

The ministry said, the maximum ceiling of 400 people is to be allowed at public gatherings, starting from Mar 16 (today), excluding unpermitted ones, as COVID-19 cases and death toll has significantly declined in the country.

The country previously raised the maximum number of people allowed at religious occasions, weddings and funerals, from 100 to 200, on Dec 30, and from 50 to 100 on Oct 29.

As of yesterday, Myanmar has recorded 606,910 confirmed COVID-19 cases, with 19,414 deaths. The daily positivity rate yesterday was 2.91 percent.
