More than 40,000 Palestinians in the Gaza Strip have been displaced due to attacks by the Israeli regime since Saturday, says MyCARE Gaza manager Dr Ziad Shehada.

In a four-minute video sent in Bahasa Melayu, he said according to the Palestinian Ministry of Social Development, all those who had left their homes were trying to find shelter in other places including in schools.

“They move from one place to another, depending on how dangerous the place is. They are in dire need of mattresses, blankets, pillows and other urgent needs.

“The electricity supply in the Gaza Strip has also been cut, and we can only get electricity for four hours a day. The internet is also very weak and unavailable,” said Ziad, who had previously studied in Malaysia.

The recent clashes in Palestine involving Hamas, the ruling authority in Gaza, and the Israeli regime have resulted in the loss of hundreds of lives on both sides since Oct 7.

According to Ziad, the water supply and sewage networks in several areas were also destroyed, while many were rushing to shops to purchase essentials, with many places already running out of stock.

“We also tried to help out at the hospital but we weren’t able to because the attacks continued. We also tried to go out to help those who were injured,” he said, adding that the attacks over the past 33 hours had also caused heavy emotional stress on the children.

In a post on his Facebook today, Ziad said a fellow Palestinian, Dr Mohamad J Alzaneen, who had just completed his PhD studies at the Universit Sains Islam Malaysia, Negeri Sembilan, a few weeks ago and returned to the Gaza Strip, was killed along with 20 members of his family when their home was bombed.

He said according to the Palestinian Ministry of Health, about 330 Palestinians have died and over 2,000 more injured due to the attacks by the Zionist regime, with many still trapped under the rubble of buildings.
