Kuala lumpur: Australia is one of Cambodia’s oldest diplomatic relationships, said H.E. Anthony Albanese, Prime Minister of Australia in a social media post on Monday, following his meeting with Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, on the sidelines of the 47th ASEAN Summit and Related Summits in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, for more than 70 years, Australia has been working with Cambodia to make a difference. From health to education, to promoting and protecting all human rights. ‘Today I discussed with Prime Minister Hun Manet how we could build on this work,’ he added. ‘I also welcomed the peace agreement between Cambodia and Thailand, including its facilitation by Malaysia and the United States.’
In their meeting, both leaders expressed appreciation for the growing relationship between Cambodia and Australia, and agreed to continue strengthening and expanding cooperation across all areas of mutual interest. Trade volume betwee
n the two countries reached nearly US$600 million in 2024. Australia increased the number of scholarships for Cambodian students from 50 to 62 in 2025.
