Kampong Chhnang: At the Royal Ploughing Ceremony in Kampong Chhnang province this morning, presided over by His Majesty King Norodom Sihamoni, Senate President Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen reflected on a visit he made to the region four decades ago.
According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, Samdech Techo Hun Sen shared his memories in a social media post on May 15, reminiscing about his two-day and one-night visit to Kampong Chhnang in December 1985, during his tenure as Prime Minister. He recounted, ‘Returning to Kampong Chhnang reminds me of my work here 40 years ago,’ highlighting his activities during that time, which included inspecting local fishing activities, overseeing rice procurement and commodity distribution for residents, and initiating the production of two million rubber trays through a ceramic tile workshop in Kampong Leng district.
Now 72, the Senate President emphasized the transformation of Kampong Chhnang province into a thriving region, contrasting this progress with his own journey from age 32 to 72. In his post, he also shared a historic photo from the 1985 visit, which featured former provincial Governor Dork Narin, who accompanied him during the inspection.
The post highlighted Kampong Chhnang’s evolution over the decades while honoring its enduring ties to Cambodia’s leadership.
