Phnom Penh: The Forestry Administration of the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries and the Non-Timber Forest Products Exchange Programme (NTFP-EP) have co-organised a forest product exhibition in downtown Siem Reap province to connect the products to the markets. According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, the launch of the two-day exhibition, from Mar. 22 to 23, was chaired by Siem Reap Deputy Provincial Governor Mr. Dy Rado with Deputy Director of the Forestry Administration Mr. Chan Ponneka as well as the representatives from the Ministry of Environment and development partners in attendance. The event served as a platform for the producers of a broad range of forest products and buyers as part of a marketing and networking approach to sustain the supply and demand connection. The initiative was funded by the Asian Korea Cooperation Fund (AKCF), through the Asian Forest Cooperation Organisation (AFoCO), to prevent deforestation through local community engagement and livelihoods improvement.
