Strategies outlined for industrial development, digitalisation and investment in the Madani Economy initiative are expected to boost economic activities and generate better returns to businesses as well as higher wages for workers in both private and public sectors, said Khazanah Research Institute (KRI) chairman Tan Sri Nor Mohamed Yakcop.
He said Madani Economy envisions a comprehensive and balanced strategy in charting Malaysia on a stronger development path, by realising and seeking to address core national challenges.
“Recognising that focusing on economic development alone can lead to disparities between regions and communities, the outlined social protection policies appear promising in closing such gaps,” he said in a statement today.
Furthermore, Nor Mohamed said, the governance and service delivery reforms will strengthen the confidence of the rakyat and foreign investors with strong political will and the rakyat’s support, while restoring the country's competitiveness at the international level.
“The focus of Madani Economy on empowering the rakyat and promoting sustainable economic growth reflects a shared commitment towards building a prosperous Malaysia,” he added.
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim today launched Madani Economy: Empowering the Rakyat, an economic framework that outlines two main areas of focus -- restructuring the economy towards making Malaysia an Asian economic leader and improving the quality of life for all Malaysians
