Phnom penh: The 13th ASEAN Ministerial Meeting on Disaster Management (AMMDM) and the 14th Meeting of the Conference of Parties (COP) to the ASEAN Agreement on Disaster Management and Emergency Response (AADMER) officially commenced in Phnom Penh this morning. The event was inaugurated by Samdech Moha Bovor Thipadei Hun Manet, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia.
According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, the meetings will focus on reviewing the progress in strengthening disaster management and humanitarian assistance in the ASEAN region. Senior Minister H.E. Kun Kim, First Vice President of the National Committee for Disaster Management, highlighted that the discussions will also explore further strategies to enhance disaster resilience.
The four-day event, spanning from October 13 to 17, 2025, will address several key areas, including the AADMER Work Programme 2026-2030. Additionally, the ASEAN Ministerial Statement on the 20 Years of the ASEAN Agreement on Disaster Management and Emergency Response (AADMER): ASEAN Vision for Global Leadership in Disaster Resilience will be a focal point of the discussions.
