Phnom Penh: The National Police of Cambodia: held a commemorative meeting this morning to mark its 80th founding anniversary, with the participation of senior police officials from neighbouring countries.
According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, distinguished guests included H.E. Gen. Vilay Lakhamphong, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Public Security of the Lao People’s Democratic Republic, and H.E. Senior Lt. Gen. Luong Tam Quang, Minister of Public Security of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.
The ceremony took place at the Police Academy of Cambodia in Kean Svay district, Kandal province, and was presided over by Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia.
In his report, H.E. Aphi Santepundit Sar Sokha, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior, highlighted the history and achievements of the National Police since its establishment on May 16, 1945. He praised the institution’s continued efforts in maintaining peace, security, and public order across the country.
Despite facing numerous challenges-ranging from political instability and gaps in social management legislation to various external and internal factors-the National Police has remained steadfast. It has consistently fulfilled its duties with professionalism, responsibility, and integrity, he noted.
On behalf of the Ministry of Interior, H.E. Aphi Santepundit Sar Sokha reaffirmed his commitment to advancing reforms within the National Police, aiming to strengthen its capabilities, professionalism, and public trust.
He emphasised that the National Police remains dedicated to preserving the peace and stability brought about by the Win-Win Policy of Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen and to defending the legitimate Royal Government under the leadership of Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet.
