Phnom Penh: Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet has called on police forces nationwide to strengthen security and social order, and to maintain peace and safety for the people.

According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, speaking at the meeting commemorating the 80th anniversary of the National Police of Cambodia, held at the Police Academy of Cambodia in Kean Svay district, Kandal province, the Prime Minister emphasised the vital role of the police in defending the legitimate Royal Government, the constitutional monarchy, and in combating terrorism, drug trafficking, and both traditional and emerging forms of crime.

In their mission to serve and protect the nation and its people, Cambodian police have played a key role in upholding national security and stability, he said. The Premier noted that, from generation to generation-excluding the period of civil war and the Khmer Rouge regime-the police forces have upheld their core values: defending the nation, safeguarding the well-being of the people, and continually improving security and social order throughout the Kingdom.

Samdech Thipadei also praised the evolution of Cambodia’s police force into a modern law enforcement institution. He acknowledged their resilience in overcoming challenges while fulfilling their core responsibilities and contributing actively to the protection of national independence, sovereignty, and territorial integrity. The police have maintained political stability and effectively prevented attempts to cause social instability, ensuring social normalcy, added the Prime Minister.
